Cantarrijan Playa - Tolerated Nude Beaches

	The very popular Cantarrijan Playa nude beaches are on a remote stretch of Spain's Costa Tropical, between Nerja and Almunecar. The beach is shingle and sand and consists of two bays. The main bay has two restaurants serving full meals and drinks. There are toilet facilities. Both restaurants hire out sunbeds and umbrellas, and one fun boats. The main bay is used a lot by local people and is a mix of nude and non-nudist. The second bay is totally naturist. The sea is clear and good for snorkelling and scuba diving. Coming from Nerja on the N340 it's well signposted with the road down to it just before the Cerro Gordo tunnel, then its a 1.5km drive down to the beach. Coming from Almunecar direction take the road off to the right just before entering the Cerro Gordo tunnel and after about 2km there is a sign to the beach. On arriving at the beach there is a car park a small charge is made.

CANTARRIJAN PLAYA NUDE BEACH REPORTS:

1. This is probably the best beach in the whole area, its about 15 minutes drive from Eagle Peak Apartments. You can drive down to the beach and park in one of the car parks there. There are two restaurants on the beach the Bola is the best one. You will to need wear something in the restaurants. Outside the restaurants are sun-loungers and sun umbrellas for hire about 4euros a session. The beach by the restaurants is used by the local Spanish and although it is an official nude beach you will find non-nudist people there, but everyone mixes with no problem. Facing the sea if you go to your left and go around the rock when you will come to another bay, this is totally naturist. To get to the beach from Eagle Peak you need to head for Malaga. To do this go down to the seafront and turn left. You will come to a one-way system against you and a left turn signed to Malaga, follow this past a house that looks like a ship and go on until the traffic lights, turn left at them and you are on the main road to Malaga. Pass though the first tunnel, go though the traffic lights at Herradura and continue until the next tunnel is in sight. About 25meters before the tunnel there is a turn off to the right signed Cerro Gordo and Cambio de Sentido take this turning. Follow the road for about a mile and you will come to a sign on the left to Cantarrijan beach. Turn left and go down to the beach. The road is steep with blind hairpin bends. When leaving the beach you can go to the far side of the beach and there is a rough road that leads back to the main road, its less steep and you will avoid you meeting traffic arriving the way you came. There is now a charge 3 euros to park but you get a drink voucher. The best restaurant to go to is the Bola the right hand one when facing the sea. If wearing your Eagle Peak tee-shirt you should get special treatment.
