Marina di Alberese, Italy - Official Nude Beach

Marina di Alberese Nude Beach
Marina di Alberese is a fine sand beach, part of the Parco Regionale della Maremma (click for map), is located 25km South of Grosetto town, close to the Ombrone river. Pay for parking at the offices close to Alberse village (costs about 4 euros) and try to park in the often full Marina di Alberese car park. Walk along the beach in a southerly direction for about 1.5km to reach the nude beach area which was officially recognised in June 2003. There is also a bus shuttle service every 30 minutes between Alberese and Marina di Alberese. The ticket cost 1,20 euros in Summer 2004.
NOTE: This is the nude beach where two nudists were arrested by the local police in July 2002 for sunbathing naked about 2km south of the crowded part of the beach. They were subsequently cleared of charges of indecency in June 2003 and since then naturism has been considered legal on parts of this beach and on many other secluded beaches in Italy. More details about the acquittal (in Italian).

MARINA DI ALBERESE NUDE BEACH REPORTS:

  1. The nude beach at Marina di Alberese, seven kilometers from the village, is inside Parco Regionale della Maremma. The road that leads there is easy and flat but not a short walk. It runs across the park and under the hills of the Uccellina, through fields (owned by the Azienda Agricola Regionale dell'Uccellina) and the pine woods, crowded with singing cicadas. The beach itself is very long, reaching down to Talamone, and of varying width, on the narrow side at Marina di Alberese, extremely wide at Bocca d'Ombrone. It is sandy and nice everywhere. At Marina di Alberese it can get pretty crowded in July and August and on Saturdays and Sundays. It is serviced with a handful of bars, a picnic area and toilets. Topless is allowed. The parking lot (shadowed by the umbrella pine trees) allows 300 cars, tickets (4.60 euro whole day, 2.20 morning or afternoon alone) can be bought both in Rispescia (in the square, beside the bakery) and in Alberese (at the park's offices and info center). No cars (or bikes) without the ticket are allowed in the park. Bicycles enter for free, as well as tourists that take the bus (1.20 euro per person) from Alberese. - By Alice Twain, Summer 2004

  2. The park, covered in woods and typical Mediterranean vegetation, borders onto the coast (Marina di Alberese), which can be reached by car, though this depends on whether there is room in the car park (the alternative is a little bus that runs regularly from the centre of Alberese). The nude beach is long and sandy and edged in one side by splendid pine trees and wild undergrowth. A unique experience. - FCI
